Absolutely not! We do not use any unethical methods in our training and behaviourism. Luckily most of these practices have been removed from dog and puppy training but they do still exist in some pockets. We will not support, teach, endorse or use any methods that use any pain, fear, force or aggression.
Our in home dog training is offered all across Sydney. We have supported clients from all across the city. We can do sessions during the day, at evenings or weekends based on your availability
We help support clients all over the world through our online training. We even have clients in Sydney who prefer to learn online only. Please join our community to see what is available.
You've tried everything with your dog. The endless treats, brain games and a range of random youtube videos with trainers saying they have some magic bullet but Nothing sticks. You're not doing it wrong, you are just trying to fix the wrong thing. Your dog isn't broken.
Whether you’ve got a barking dog or a dog who pulls on the leash or a dog who jumps up or is becoming a little bit aggressive, the chances are they are getting far too excited, reactive and far too emotional at that point in time. The real trick I found is to get those dogs to turn to you, to listen to you when it really matters. Because if you get that bit in place and they’re not all scattered-brain and over excited and over emotional you’re halfway there. If they’re calm and they turn and look to you, then you have the opportunity to show them how you want them to behave.
So in a nutshell, before you start to “train the dog” you need to know how to “win their mind” The problem is that most trainers jump straight into commands and training your dog when they are overstimulated. The problem isn’t that you dog doesn’t know what to do, it’s that they are choosing not to listen.
Think of it like having a terrible fear of flying and being dragged towards of plane. Someone telling you how safe planes are isn’t going to make you calm down
At The Toe Beans Co, we don't start by training your dog. We start by understanding the why — through the dog's eyes. Once your dog actually chooses to come alongside you, everything else becomes easy.
We come to your home in Sydney. We spend two and a half hours with you and your dog — in your space, with your specific issues. No generic advice. We look at the cause, we show you exactly how to change it, and you leave with a plan you can start that same day.
This is completely force-free. No shouting, no punishment, no pain. We work with your dog's natural instincts — not against them.
All our team members are required to pass AFP background checks before working with us as well as sitting and passing the Red Cross Pet First Aid Australia course. I trained under Dan Adbelnoor and graduate from the Dog Trainer Academy whilst also being a Certified Professional Pet Sitter (CPPS) from Pet Sitters International.
No dog trainer or behaviourist can guarantee outcomes in a given timeframe unless they are willing to use unethical methods (eg shock collars etc). As a completely ethical dog training organisation, we would never use these methods.
There are 4 important factors when it comes to training:
- Your ability to be consistent (the most important)
- Your personality
- Your dog's breed
- Your dog's background
We always tell our clients that if you follow our training, are patient and diligent you should see the 1/1/1 rule. That is gradual improvement in 1 day, 1 week and 1 month.
The methods we use have helped over 100,000 other dog owners to solve their dog's behavioural issues.
All of our at home dog training clients get access to the following:
- At home dog training consultation
- Lifetime access to the dog calming code video tutorials
- 3 months of phone, email and chat support
- Access to our clients only community section
- Access to our online dog training community with courses of behaviours and breed specific issues
- Owners can also choose to access a video tutorial database covering different behavioural issues
- During sessions, if required, we will also provide equipment such as front pull harnesses and long lines
Like people, all dogs are different. What really matters is not your dog, but you. Some dog's can be more stubborn but ultimately if you engage in calm and consistent action your dog will get better.
A better question, is how will you respond?
The first 4 rules we teach you involve not doing things, rather than the opposite. There are no time consuming brain games or 40 point plans. You don't do them and they don't work. Sorry. All in all, this should take no more than 10 extra minutes a day for the first week and then 5 minutes a day.
We cover the following:
Leash and walking issues - pulling, reactivity, and aggression during walks
Jumping up on people - inappropriate greeting behaviour and attention-seeking
Excessive barking - at doors, for attention, when left alone, in cars, and around property
Aggression problems - toward people, other animals, or objects
Separation anxiety - destructive behaviour and distress when left alone
Biting, nipping, and destructive chewing - especially common in puppies
Recall issues - not coming when called or running away
Potty training problems - house-breaking difficulties
Fearfulness and anxiety - phobias, scared behaviour, and hyperactivity
Puppy behavioural issues - general new puppy adjustment problems
Inappropriate elimination - including eating faeces
Furniture and boundary issues - jumping on furniture, accessing restricted areas
Multi-dog household problems - dogs not getting along with each other
Muzzle training - teaching dogs to accept and wear muzzles properly
Developing a well behaved dog has 2 parts: dog psychology & dog training. We focus first on understanding your dog and getting them to choose to follow and listen to us. When dogs aren't making all the decisions, they calm down and relax, making them far more receptive to training. To do this, we don’t need to use force, fear or aggression. In fact the opposite. Whether dealing with barking, leash pulling, jumping, or aggression, these behaviours typically stem from dogs being too excited, reactive, and emotional. The key is getting them to turn to you and listen when it matters. Once they're calm and looking to you for guidance, you can effectively show them how to behave.
In short: before you train the dog, you need to win their mind.
For our in person sessions, we work all across Sydney. We have had clients in Bondi, Randwick, Paramatta, Lane Cove, Kogorah, Maroubra, Rose Bay, Glebe, Mosman and far more. If you are within a 60/90 minute drive of the centre of Sydney you will be covered.
Some owners want to get support through our online video tutorial platform. There are a range of courses contained in there covering:
Solve Reactivity & Aggression
Master The Walk
Quit Jumping Up
Stop Separation Anxiety
Biting, Nipping & Chewing
Won't Come Or listen
Excessive Barking Be Gone
Fearful or Hyperactive Dogs
Potty Training Troubles
New Puppy Nightmares
That is a great question. There are currently 4 major ethical schools of thought that have significant evidence behind them in terms of results for owners.
Plenty of trainers have a "die on a hill" mentality when it comes to their method. Our view is simple. it's similar to dieting.
If you want to lose weight, the best diet for you is the one you follow.
Different people are likely to stick with different things. All that matters is that you do something consistently.
Our method is a great foundation and has worked for huge numbers of owners. For those looking for something different we can incorporate other methods on top of this core behaviourism training.
We have worked with a huge range of breeds from a range of backgrounds. We work with large breeds, working dogs, rescues, doodle crosses and everything you can think of. Here are some examples:
- Australian Cobber Dog
- German Shepherd Dog x Staffie (Rescue)
- Dachshund
- Dachshund x Chihuahua
- King Charles Cavalier Spaniel
- Whippets
- Australian Bulldog
- French Bulldog
- Miniature Dachshund
- Wheaten Terrier
- Cockapoodle
- Groodle
- Rescue Breeds (Blue Heeler X)
- Kelpie
- Chihuahua x Pomeranian
- German Short Haired Pointer
- Bordoodle
- Greyhounds
- Bernese Mountain Dog
- Rottweiler
- Cavoodle
- Jack Russel Terrier
- Maltepoo
- Staffordshire Bull Terrier X
Any trainer or behaviourist that tells you they have a 100% record is bending some truths.
Our methods don't require much: 5 minutes of extra work a day, a calm mindset, patience and most importantly, consistency.
We have had 3 situations in the last 12 months where there was limited improvement:
- An owner had a Cavoodle that they placed in daycare 5 days a week. The dog suffered from severe separation anxiety and excessive barking. They worked a 10 hour day out the house 5 days a week. The owner was unwilling to work from home or take time off work to help their dog. We did the training on a Saturday and they achieved their first time out the house without the dog barking in years on the Sunday. They then went back to work on Monday and as we cannot effectively train the daycare, the dog received a different message. Ultimately, we could not train the daycare, and it is not our place to and the dog's behaviour receded
- We had a client whose King Charles Cavalier Spaniel had separation anxiety and barking for 8 years. We had our session and received a phone call 8 hours later that the solution wasn't working. Ultimately, you need patience and consistency. I have seen unbelievably quick turn arounds (ironically by people really sticking in because they think it will taka e long time)
- We had a situation with a King Charles Cavalier Spaniel was excessively barking. One of the couple refused to help with the dog at all, and the other worked a 10 hour day then would try and cram training into the evening. They had an aupair at the home who looked after the dog all day but was explicitly told not to help with the dog. Ultimately, their dog didn't receive a consistent message, patience or regular training.
Absolutely. We help owners all across the world with their dog's and cats. Best thing to do is join our community and get involved. There is plenty of free training support and advice, as well as further online training if you want to use that.
Our in person training helps you and your best mate get back on track. Our training uses ethical based methods that never use pain, fear, force or aggression. All training is tailored to you, your dog and your home. We know that your dog's behaviour can sometimes feel like the end of the world, we are here to show you it's not.

"I Always Leave Sessions Feeling Reassured And Confident Rather Than Overwhelmed"
"We’ve been working with Luke through both in-person sessions and teleconsults, and I honestly can’t recommend him highly enough.
My French Bulldog is in his adolescent phase and, like many Frenchies, very intelligent, opinionated and stubborn. Luke has been incredibly calm, practical and realistic in how he approaches training, no judgement, no fluff, just clear guidance that actually works.
He’s helped us with resource guarding behaviours, walking challenges and impulse control, and the difference has been noticeable very quickly. The front-clip harness recommendation alone was a game changer, and the structured, consistent approach Luke teaches has made things feel manageable again.
What I really value is that Luke explains the why behind behaviours, normalises what’s age- and breed-appropriate, and gives tools that are easy to implement in real life. I always leave sessions feeling reassured and confident rather than overwhelmed.
If you’re looking for a trainer who understands dogs, owners, and the reality of living with a strong-willed pup, Luke is fantastic.." - Nicola (Jan, 2026)

"Luke’s simple program has practically delivered me a new dog within a week!"
"I’m in the inner west of Sydney and Luke kindly travelled to us to support in some of my 10 years old Cavalier’s behavioural issues mainly around food / treat demands.
Before I found Luke I had honestly gotten to the point of almost giving up, I felt so helpless and frustrated by my dog’s demanding behaviour which admittedly came from spoiling him too much. Luke’s simple and straightforward program has practically delivered me a new dog within a week! Benji is so much calmer now that I’m following the key rules and I am so grateful to Luke for this. It’s crazy to notice how much this was really affecting me, how much tension I have been holding in my body and how much I have been sacrificing around my daily pleasures just to keep some sanity.
It does take commitment and a bit of work to stick to the program, but in almost no time at all you will have a much calmer and seemingly new dog and after a while it becomes no extra work at all. If you’re in Sydney and need help with your dog, don’t think twice about contacting Luke. Not only is the program awesome but he is so helpful, attentive, and committed to helping. You can tell how much he loves dogs and people. Thank you Luke!!!." - Aleesha (Late, 2025)

"He’s given me the tools I wish I’d had all along"
Luke is a phenomenal trainer, both for my dog and for me. He’s given me the tools I wish I’d had all along and has given me hope where’d I’d all but given up. He’s cool, calm, and collected and clearly deeply loves dogs. If you’re having issues with your pup, The Toe Beans will help you..." - Dylan

"Easy corrections and behavioural skills that my pup responded to almost immediately"
I’m in Bellevue Hill and I’m struggling with recall and defiance with my 9mnth old puppy… He thinks he’s the boss… Luke at Toe Beans showed me a series of easy corrections and behavioural skills that my pup responded to almost immediately… He filled in my missing knowledge… Toe Beans has great access to follow-up with easy to follow instruction videos via QR codes so I can go over all the training… Absolutely recommend - Lesley

"Kind And Effective Method, Tailored To His Needs"
Dog whisperer. Have had amazing results after just two session's with our rescue boy. Kind and effective method, tailored to his needs. Couldn’t recommend more highly.." - Linda

"Luke has made a difference immediately"
Luke is a legend. We have a very stubborn, strong 7 year old Irish Wheaten Terrier called Ollie and Luke has made a difference immediately 👏. Thoroughly recommend 👍" - David

"Luke says there’s no such thing really as a dog whisperer, but I think there is and he is it."
We’re at Mosman and my beautiful little human-adoring bordoodle Rosie sometimes snaps at strange dogs when they ignore her cues to go away.
I couldn’t believe anyone could really have a big impact on a 7-year-old pet but within just one session, I could see a big difference in both of my dogs.
They were calmer, more responsive, (Milo had stopped pulling at his lead) and Rosie was completely de-stressed around strange dogs.
Luke says there’s no such thing really as a dog whisperer, but I think there is and he is it.
Simple, really effective processes and making Walking fun again!!
Thanks, Luke, you are a legend.." - Adrienne

"All it took was some small, easy to implement tips to change Humphrey’s behaviour."
A huge thank you to Luke for coming to our home and giving us some much needed help with our bossy 3 year bordoodle.
In the weeks since Luke’s visit, we have noticed a huge improvement and all it took was some small, easy to implement tips to change Humphrey’s behaviour.
We now have a calmer, more obedient dog around the home which makes life a lot more pleasant for us all. I highly recommend Luke as we found him to be very knowledgeable, willing to listen and understand the problem and then offer sound and practical advice.” Jenny

" He’s so much calmer and happier about it and so am I"
Luke is incredibly patient with my very anxious chihuahua/ mini dachshund. I’ve been struggling with cutting his nails for YEARS and in one week working with Luke the difference is incredible! He’s so much calmer and happier about it and so am I! - Linda

"He was so loving with my Rottie and made him/myself feel really comfortable"
Luke was absolutely amazing! He was so loving with my Rottie and made him/myself feel really comfortable. Did some incredible recall training and allowed me to feel in control and safe with my big 55KG baby, can’t wait to put everything into practice! - Courtney

" He’s so much calmer and happier about it and so am I"
"I can’t thank Luke enough for his help with my little pom chi, Elton (just 1.8kg but with a big personality!). Elton had become very territorial and would bark at every little sound, especially vacuums, loud noises, or even people moving bins outside.
With Luke’s tips, I’ve already seen a big improvement in just a few weeks.
Elton has gone from a dog that couldn’t settle and barked continuously to one who now calms down quickly. This past weekend we even had five kids coming and going through the house, and everyone noticed how much more relaxed he was, far less barking and much quicker to listen to me and settle.
Luke’s session has made such a difference to both Elton and our home. I feel much more confident knowing what to do, and Elton is clearly a happier, calmer dog. Highly recommend Luke if you’re looking for a knowledgeable and supportive behaviouralist!. - Keiran
