Most people have been brainwashed into thinking that if your dog can do sit or paw, they are well behaved. But a well behaved dog is much more than that. Can you leave them at home without barking? Or meet dogs in the park without reacting? Do they Resource guard? Or can they be walked calmly on the leash?
Although a lot of owners think their dog will do this naturally, I can tell you for a fact that they cannot. There are more owners than ever before with dogs suffering from separation anxiety, that cannot be walked calmly or are reactive to everyone.
Dog behaviour has 4 key components: owner education (breed specific insights), socialisation (dogs, humans and other animals), behaviourism (not just bribing with cheese) and finally command training.
Our puppy program teaches you everything you need to know about: dog psychology, dog behaviourism and dog training. We help you to set great foundations for your puppy and also how to identify common behavioural issues as they arise and know exactly what to do.
Imagine having someone in your corner all the time to help you understand your dog's behaviour and what you need to be doing at the exact right time

Our puppy program includes the following:

ABSOLUTELY NOT. If you want a method like that I suggest you call the 1980's, go back there and never get a dog. We a method based on positive reinforcement that uses your dog's psychology to make them want to follow you and be part of your team.
The puppy school is 4 consecutive weeks and sessions last up to 1 hour. You will be in a class with up to 10 puppies which gives a good balance between socialisation and session control. The puppy school covers 4 main areas: dog behaviourism, command training (sit, stay, down, walk, recall), socialisation and finally owner education. Your puppy must be between 12 - 16 weeks to attend the course. For bigger breeds your dog must be between 12 - 13 weeks.

Like people, all dogs are different. What really matters is not your dog, but you. Some dog's can be more stubborn but ultimately if you engage in calm and consistent action your dog will get better.
A better question, is how will you respond?
No dog trainer or behaviourist can guarantee outcomes in a given timeframe unless they are willing to use unethical methods (eg shock collars etc). As a completely ethical dog training organisation, we would never use these methods.
There are 4 important factors when it comes to training:
- Your ability to be consistent (the most important)
- Your personality
- Your dog's breed
- Your dog's background
Different dog breeds pose different behavioural challenges. Some of these are bred in from generations of selective breeding for a given task where as other breeds have very volatile behavioural characteristics due to poor backyard breeding.
Absolutely. You can join the course at any time. There may be elements that you are unable to do but plenty of owners join later on and really value having us there to help.
Our course is divided up in to different age brackets to help you get the most out of what you are looking for
There are a few ages where certain things happen but other than that there are no limitations:
Puppy School: Your dog must be 12/13 weeks old in order to start the puppy school. This is for safety
You can still view the online puppy school videos if you would like to see what we do.
We cover the following:
Leash and walking issues - pulling, reactivity, and aggression during walks
Jumping up on people - inappropriate greeting behaviour and attention-seeking
Excessive barking - at doors, for attention, when left alone, in cars, and around property
Aggression problems - toward people, other animals, or objects
Separation anxiety - destructive behaviour and distress when left alone
Biting, nipping, and destructive chewing - especially common in puppies
Recall issues - not coming when called or running away
Potty training problems - house-breaking difficulties
Fearfulness and anxiety - phobias, scared behaviour, and hyperactivity
Puppy behavioural issues - general new puppy adjustment problems
Inappropriate elimination - including eating faeces
Furniture and boundary issues - jumping on furniture, accessing restricted areas
Multi-dog household problems - dogs not getting along with each other
Muzzle training - teaching dogs to accept and wear muzzles properly
Developing a well behaved dog has 2 parts: dog psychology & dog training. We focus first on understanding your dog and getting them to choose to follow and listen to us. When dogs aren't making all the decisions, they calm down and relax, making them far more receptive to training. To do this, we don’t need to use force, fear or aggression. In fact the opposite. Whether dealing with barking, leash pulling, jumping, or aggression, these behaviours typically stem from dogs being too excited, reactive, and emotional. The key is getting them to turn to you and listen when it matters. Once they're calm and looking to you for guidance, you can effectively show them how to behave.
In short: before you train the dog, you need to win their mind.
We have worked with a huge range of breeds from a range of backgrounds. We work with large breeds, working dogs, rescues, doodle crosses and everything you can think of. Here are some examples:
- Australian Cobber Dog
- German Shepherd Dog x Staffie (Rescue)
- Dachshund

We incorporate a number of different training ideologies into our puppy training. These methods are the foundations for helping 100,000's owners around the world to get their puppy on the right road to success.
Failure to prepare. Prepare to fail.
I cannot tell you how many owners get immediately overwhelmed when their puppy arrives because they are trying to learn what to do, as they need to do it.
Our puppy program includes courses on how to prepare for their arrival and exactly what you need.
Whether that's understanding if you need a crate, what enzymatic cleaner is, the routine you should be following or even what you should be expecting from your breed.
Also, we do run out of slots in our puppy school.
Some owners want to get support through our online video tutorial platform. There are a range of courses contained in there covering:
Solve Reactivity & Aggression
Master The Walk
Quit Jumping Up
Stop Separation Anxiety
Biting, Nipping & Chewing
Won't Come Or listen
Excessive Barking Be Gone
Fearful or Hyperactive Dogs
Potty Training Troubles
New Puppy Nightmares
It is really important that your dog meets lots of other types of dog's when they are you. I do see some specific "cavoodle" schools cropping up but I cannot stress how bad an idea this is. Now, it is important that if you have a large breed (eg Bernese Mountain dog) who starts a course at 13 weeks old and a Pomeranian (who starts the course at 12 weeks old) this can make things unfeasible. We will match dogs based on their relative size and age, but we also want to maintain a good mix of breeds in all of our classses.
Absolutely. Some owners want more hands on support around areas such as recall and house routines. We have had a few different requests since running the puppy school from:
Additional dedicated 1:1 sessions
Group coaching through our community with other puppy owner's at the same age
One off training to work on things such as recall
Support for owners in getting their homes set up after their puppy arrives
Dedicated 1:1 phone and puppy coaching

We help support clients all over the world through our online training. However, a critical part of puppyhood is socialisation and in order for clients to enrol online in our puppy program we require that they provide evidence that they can sufficiently socialise their dog. The requirement is that they believe they can introduce and have their dog interact with around 100 different dogs,/humans/ animals by the time they are 6 months old.
All our team members are required to pass AFP background checks before working with us as well as sitting and passing the Red Cross Pet First Aid Australia course. I trained under Dan Adbelnoor and graduated from the Dog Trainer Academy whilst also being a Certified Professional Pet Sitter (CPPS) from Pet Sitters International.
This was based on feedback from our clients in both our puppy school and adult dog behavioural programs. We would work with plenty of clients who had received a "gold star" during puppy school at another organisation but 4 months later couldn't walk their dog without barking. That isn't right. Helping your puppy to develop is far more than puppy school. Is it important for helping with commands and socialisation, absolutely, but it is just a piece of the puzzle.

"I Always Leave Sessions Feeling Reassured And Confident Rather Than Overwhelmed"
"We’ve been working with Luke through both in-person sessions and teleconsults, and I honestly can’t recommend him highly enough.
My French Bulldog is in his adolescent phase and, like many Frenchies, very intelligent, opinionated and stubborn. Luke has been incredibly calm, practical and realistic in how he approaches training, no judgement, no fluff, just clear guidance that actually works.
He’s helped us with resource guarding behaviours, walking challenges and impulse control, and the difference has been noticeable very quickly. The front-clip harness recommendation alone was a game changer, and the structured, consistent approach Luke teaches has made things feel manageable again.
What I really value is that Luke explains the why behind behaviours, normalises what’s age- and breed-appropriate, and gives tools that are easy to implement in real life. I always leave sessions feeling reassured and confident rather than overwhelmed.
If you’re looking for a trainer who understands dogs, owners, and the reality of living with a strong-willed pup, Luke is fantastic.." - Nicola (Jan, 2026)

"Luke’s simple program has practically delivered me a new dog within a week!"
"I’m in the inner west of Sydney and Luke kindly travelled to us to support in some of my 10 years old Cavalier’s behavioural issues mainly around food / treat demands.
Before I found Luke I had honestly gotten to the point of almost giving up, I felt so helpless and frustrated by my dog’s demanding behaviour which admittedly came from spoiling him too much. Luke’s simple and straightforward program has practically delivered me a new dog within a week! Benji is so much calmer now that I’m following the key rules and I am so grateful to Luke for this. It’s crazy to notice how much this was really affecting me, how much tension I have been holding in my body and how much I have been sacrificing around my daily pleasures just to keep some sanity.
It does take commitment and a bit of work to stick to the program, but in almost no time at all you will have a much calmer and seemingly new dog and after a while it becomes no extra work at all. If you’re in Sydney and need help with your dog, don’t think twice about contacting Luke. Not only is the program awesome but he is so helpful, attentive, and committed to helping. You can tell how much he loves dogs and people. Thank you Luke!!!." - Aleesha (Late, 2025)

"He’s given me the tools I wish I’d had all along"
Luke is a phenomenal trainer, both for my dog and for me. He’s given me the tools I wish I’d had all along and has given me hope where’d I’d all but given up. He’s cool, calm, and collected and clearly deeply loves dogs. If you’re having issues with your pup, The Toe Beans will help you..." - Dylan

"Luke's Approach Was So Refreshing"
"Luke’s approach to dog training was so refreshing. He ensures that both our puppy & us feel calm & confident in an array of different training environments. He has a wealth of knowledge & is so generous with his time. Couldn’t recommend him more!" - Rachel

"We learnt so much in our first session and now feel more confident"
Luke came to help us on day 3 of having our puppy and was simply amazing. We learnt so much in our first session and now feel more confident with training and establishing a routine. Luke was so loving and gentle with Henrietta, and she adored him too. A great service and would highly recommend! - Andrew

"Easy corrections and behavioural skills that my pup responded to almost immediately"
I’m in Bellevue Hill and I’m struggling with recall and defiance with my 9mnth old puppy… He thinks he’s the boss… Luke at Toe Beans showed me a series of easy corrections and behavioural skills that my pup responded to almost immediately… He filled in my missing knowledge… Toe Beans has great access to follow-up with easy to follow instruction videos via QR codes so I can go over all the training… Absolutely recommend - Lesley

"Kind And Effective Method, Tailored To His Needs"
Dog whisperer. Have had amazing results after just two session's with our rescue boy. Kind and effective method, tailored to his needs. Couldn’t recommend more highly.." - Linda

"Luke has made a difference immediately"
Luke is a legend. We have a very stubborn, strong 7 year old Irish Wheaten Terrier called Ollie and Luke has made a difference immediately 👏. Thoroughly recommend 👍" - David

"Luke says there’s no such thing really as a dog whisperer, but I think there is and he is it."
We’re at Mosman and my beautiful little human-adoring bordoodle Rosie sometimes snaps at strange dogs when they ignore her cues to go away.
I couldn’t believe anyone could really have a big impact on a 7-year-old pet but within just one session, I could see a big difference in both of my dogs.
They were calmer, more responsive, (Milo had stopped pulling at his lead) and Rosie was completely de-stressed around strange dogs.
Luke says there’s no such thing really as a dog whisperer, but I think there is and he is it.
Simple, really effective processes and making Walking fun again!!
Thanks, Luke, you are a legend.." - Adrienne

"All it took was some small, easy to implement tips to change Humphrey’s behaviour."
A huge thank you to Luke for coming to our home and giving us some much needed help with our bossy 3 year bordoodle.
In the weeks since Luke’s visit, we have noticed a huge improvement and all it took was some small, easy to implement tips to change Humphrey’s behaviour.
We now have a calmer, more obedient dog around the home which makes life a lot more pleasant for us all. I highly recommend Luke as we found him to be very knowledgeable, willing to listen and understand the problem and then offer sound and practical advice.” Jenny

" He’s so much calmer and happier about it and so am I"
Luke is incredibly patient with my very anxious chihuahua/ mini dachshund. I’ve been struggling with cutting his nails for YEARS and in one week working with Luke the difference is incredible! He’s so much calmer and happier about it and so am I! - Linda

"He was so loving with my Rottie and made him/myself feel really comfortable"
Luke was absolutely amazing! He was so loving with my Rottie and made him/myself feel really comfortable. Did some incredible recall training and allowed me to feel in control and safe with my big 55KG baby, can’t wait to put everything into practice! - Courtney

" He’s so much calmer and happier about it and so am I"
"I can’t thank Luke enough for his help with my little pom chi, Elton (just 1.8kg but with a big personality!). Elton had become very territorial and would bark at every little sound, especially vacuums, loud noises, or even people moving bins outside.
With Luke’s tips, I’ve already seen a big improvement in just a few weeks.
Elton has gone from a dog that couldn’t settle and barked continuously to one who now calms down quickly. This past weekend we even had five kids coming and going through the house, and everyone noticed how much more relaxed he was, far less barking and much quicker to listen to me and settle.
Luke’s session has made such a difference to both Elton and our home. I feel much more confident knowing what to do, and Elton is clearly a happier, calmer dog. Highly recommend Luke if you’re looking for a knowledgeable and supportive behaviouralist!. - Keiran

"What has impressed us most is his ongoing support"
We have had a fantastic experience with Luke from Toe Beans. He came to our home and provided clear, practical, and very helpful advice that made an immediate difference.
What has impressed us most is his ongoing support — he has been available whenever we’ve needed guidance, which has given us great confidence in managing our dog.
His professionalism, knowledge, and approachable style make him an outstanding trainer. We highly recommend his services to anyone looking for expert and reliable dog training support.
- Bridget

Your dog is family and that's why, when things go wrong, it is incredibly stressful. Our goal is to provide high quality ethical dog training support that actually works. People are different, and dogs are different, and there is no one size fits all approach. We believe that any ethical method done consistently is more like to work than any ethical method done inconsistently. Our goal is to find you a plan you can stick to, and give you the best chance of success.
